Province of Tavush, travel to Armenia
Tavush marz of Armenia is disposed near the borders with Georgia and Azerbaijan. Its relief is mainly mountainous and therefore the predominant part of it is placed on 800-1000 m of altitude. Here, everywhere you can see rocky slopes covered with bright-green carpet of alpine grassland.
Tavush is rich in rivers, mountain and mineral springs, the largest of the river with its tributary of Getik is Aghstev passing through beautiful valleys. Lake Parz, near the town of Dilijan is characterized by its exceptional beauty.

In addition to natural resources, Tavush is attractive for tourism with attractions, including the monastic complexes Goshavank, Haghartsin, Makaravank and others, plenty of which are hidden in the dense forests or on the mountain tops, where it is often hidden in the floating clouds.

Construction of the cloister of Haghartsin refers to the 10th century, and Goshavank, as we know was founded by the Armenian scientist and priest Mkhitar Gosh.
The road following to the monastery of Haghartsin is about ten kilometers away from Dilijan. The splendor and incomparable beauty of the convent is reflected not only in its architecture but also its location in the midst of the trees.
The complex Agartsin was constructed by two brothers, nobles of the Bagratuni dynasty, and it consists of two temples and chapels.
At the entry of the Chapel of St. Stephanos is the mural of Madonna with Child. The impressive feature of images is that the portrait of Mongolian appearance that probably was intended to convince the invaders did not destroy the chapel.
Cathedral of St. Astvatsatsin, referring to the 13th centenary, is richly decorated with arches and is a classic example of Armenian architecture.
The refectory of Haghartsin is a unique example of Armenian architecture, where the big room consisting of two square rooms connected by four crossed arches.
